Holiday Projects
Frequently asked questions
How much do holiday projects cost?
Most young people who access our holiday projects do so for free as part of the Healthy Activities and Food (HAF) nationwide scheme. Surrey young people in receipt of free school meals are automatically entitled to an e-voucher to book a course and many other groups of young people are also eligible. This includes young people with special educational needs.
If you live outside of Surrey we are able to offer paid for places. Please get in touch to enquire about prices.
Do you have experience working with young people with disabilities?
Yes. Our company is led by Artistic Director Nina Lemon who, in addition to having over 25 years experience working with people with learning disabilities, also has two Autistic daughters of her own. All staff leading on the project have experience working with children and young people with learning disabilities as artists in their own right as well as on a range of projects at Peer Productions.
What kind of disabilities can you accommodate?
The course is designed for children and young people with moderate learning disabilities. Some participants might attend a mainstream school but have additional support and others might attend a special school. Young people attending might be Autistic or have a range of learning disabilities including but not limited to Down Syndrome, Williams Syndrome, Fragile X and global developmental delay.
We do not usually provide personal care support or one to one provision. If you think your child might need this kind of support please contact us to discuss.
Our venue is lift accessible but please get in touch with us if your child uses a wheelchair so we can make sure we can meet their needs.
What is your planned staff ratio?
There are 20 places on each workshop day. We plan to have 4 skilled leaders and 4 supportive assistants.
What if my child is fussy about food?
Don’t worry. We get it. Sensory needs can make meal times a struggle for many young people. We will ask for detailed information about your child’s food preferences and whilst we will encourage them to try new things, we will make sure safe foods are available.
