Dr. Hannah Newman
Leader of learning (PEP)
Hannah Newman is a teacher, researcher and performer. She has several years’ experience working as a lecturer teaching drama and theatre studies at the University of Kent, where she also obtained her PGCHE. At her time at the University, she also worked supporting disabled students.
Hannah has worked as a practitioner running drama workshops in primary and secondary schools, and has previously worked with Peer Productions on Generation Girls.
Hannah has a PhD in which she researched how drama environments could help the diagnosis of autism. Since 2012 she has worked as a researcher on several different creative projects working with autistic people using creative arts (Playing A/Part), immersive environments (Imagining Autism) and comedy (Comedy on the Spectrum). She has also worked on a research project focusing on investigating the use of music underwater for children with PMLD.
She is a performer and likes to create physical and devised pieces of work with her company, Foxtale Ensemble.
Outside of work Hannah likes to walk her dog with her son, read novels and loves to travel.
