New Year, New course, New Brilliant team members.
We are delighted to welcome Dr. Hannah Newman and Sophie Maher to team Peer. Hannah will be joining us as Leading of Learning of our new Peer Employment Pathway (PEP) from late October and Sophie will be Acting Leading of Learning when the new course begins in a few weeks time.
The PEP programme is for young actors (aged 18 - 24 years) with learning disabilities. It is a 36 week programme and uses drama skills to access the world of work both within the performing arts industry and beyond. Learners will work in parallel with our Peer Actor Development (PAD) young actors and will have the opportunity to develop their performing skills, gain knowledge about the industry, take part in work experience and creative projects and develop their healthy lifestyle skills to support them as they transition into adulthood. We do have some places still available and you can find out more here.
Both Hannah and Sophie have worked with Peer before. Sophie graduated from Peer Productions’ PAD programme in 2017 and has worked for Peer in a range of roles including tour manager, Generation Girls facilitator and most recently Summer School facilitator. Hannah too has worked on the Generation Girls programme and also with Peer Productions artists on the Playing A/Part project with Autistic girls with Kent and Surrey universities.
