Projects and Outreach
Much More than theatre
Beyond our staged performances and plays, Peer Productions is also involved in creating a range of other innovative content and in performing outreach work across a variety of digital platforms and focus areas. To date, these have included improvised web-series, podcasts, workshops, and more!
Like our plays, several of Peer’s Projects and outreach are designed to support the national curriculum and aid with young people’s learning and development. Mind Games and Generation Girls function as in-school workshops to teach students about mental health, relationships and wellbeing, supported by. digital resources. 50 Days: Alone Together is a web-series created by our young actor cohort, following their first 50 days in lockdown. It supports mental health and addresses the difficulties faced by students in lockdown. our other projects have ranged from engaging to feminist history, with Motherline and Forgotten Women, to an ongoing series of Creative Labs projects carried out by our young actors as part of our Actor Development Programme.
Creative Labs
As part of our Actor Development Course, all our young actors work with their peers and one of Peer Productions’ directors to take part in a creative project designed to develop their skills, confidence and creativity as an artist.
50 Days: Alone Together
50 Days: Alone Together is a new interactive miniseries designed to support students with their mental health. Filmed entirely via Zoom, it tells the story of ten teens and their first 50 Days in lockdown.
Generation Girls
Generation Girls is a project for Autistic girls and girls with learning disabilities. Led by a female facilitator and supported by a team of trained female peer educators (aged 18 - 21) the programmes explore issues including self-esteem and body image, healthy relationships, and mental health in a safe and supportive environment.
Motherline
As part of Peer’s commitment to supporting emerging artists, during the coronavirus lockdown, we commissioned eight exceptional practitioners to work together on a new project – Motherline –exploring ideas related to female lineage.
Forgotten Women
With our new podcast series, Forgotten Women, we want to celebrate female British activists who have been pushed into the margins of history.
